What is doggie daycare?
Doggie Daycare in its simplest form is essentially like school for dogs. Dogs get collected from their home in the morning via our custom built, high specification doggie taxis. They are then bought back to Four Paws Inn, unloaded at our safe, enclosed compound area, grouped off into classes of similar temperament dogs where we know they will get the best time. Each group gets their own paddocks/fields and enclosures to play freely all day whilst having access to covered lounges with sofas and straw beds. They are monitored throughout the day by experienced and affectionate staff who are massive dog lovers as well as CCTV. The whole facility has been built specifically for dogs with 2m high dog proof fencing everywhere, ponds, streams, sensory areas, woodlands, activity centres, artificial grass field and many other features to ensure they get the best possible social and exercise benefits whist in our care. The are then brought home with their new friends on the taxi later in the evening, tired, happy, socialised and content.
How much does doggy daycare cost?
Doggie Daycare cost from £18 per dog per day depending on your location. Taxi is included in this price. We have great multiple dog discounts and all new dogs are entitled to a free no obligation trail day to see how they like it.
Does the facility have adequate boundaries and fencing to keep the dogs safe?
Yes, every area the dogs have access to has a minimum of 1.8m high fencing above ground. Most areas has 2m high dog proof fencing. The 1 field with 1.8m high fencing has also 1ft underground fencing to eliminate all risks of digging out. Not that any dog wishes to escape but in the interest of safety we have invested heavily in security to cover all risks. There are no stock, horse fencing or barbed wire etc in sight.
Is any and every dog allowed to come to doggie daycare?
Unfortunately we aren’t able to accept all dogs. We evaluate all new dogs with the owners prior to them potentially starting and if we deem any dog to be at risk of aggression or unpredictable we are unable to accept them. In turn we also are unable to accept Bitches in season as this can be a catalyst for trouble. Nervous dogs are a different matter; we have some fantastic heartwarming stories of nervous dogs, often rescues, coming to us. It is always a pleasure to see these dogs transform into social butterflies and make new friends.
What if I prefer my dog to keep extra clean, is this an option?
Yes, we know first hand that some breeds in particular must be groomed regularly and as a result would benefit more from playing on a clean area. This was a big deciding factor for us transforming 1 field to entirely artificial grass. This is a big hit in the wetter and winter months and the dogs absolutely love it. Check out some of the videos on our social platforms to see.
Is the facility based at your family home where there is someone always around?
Yes, we are located in a lovely remote location in the countryside. The facility is situated on our family home and acres of land. As its all privately owned we are in a position to constantly invent in building what we deem to be Doggie Heaven for all our guest - if they join us for a day or a sleepover. There is no risk of us chopping and changing premises or being limited to development by landlords or third parties. Our boarding facilities are right next to our family home and office and everywhere is monitored with CCTV, lights and sensors for security.
What if my dog comes to daycare but for some reason I want him/her to stay over?
As our boarding facilities are on site its no problem for them to sleep over. The added cost of a sleepover on top of the Daycare fee is £4 per dog.
Does my dog get caged up or have his own area when boarding?
No dog is ever caged up or do we have dogs on leads when with us - this goes against our ethos entirely. Every dog that joins us for a sleepover gets their own comfortable pen. These pens on average are 2m wide and 3m long and only for sleeping at night. All pens are resin sealed & with high spec insulated PVC walls. No permeable material what so ever is used (such as wood etc) to reduce all risks of germ and bacteria harvesting. Some dogs like to sleep in open cages at home. This isn’t a problem to emulate the same with us. We try to create a home from home feel when all dogs are joining us. Some dogs are particularly attached to toys, teddies or blankets. We encourage all owners to include as much of their home set up as possible so the can feel right at home with us. Daycare is part of the service for all boarders so as you can imagine after playing freely all day, sleep is rarely an issue at night. All pens are monitored by CCTV so we can ensure they are at their most comfortable during the night.
Does my dog need any vaccinations prior to coming to Four Paws Inn?
All dogs need to be up to date with their vaccinations prior to joining us. Up to date vaccinations include;
- DHP
- L4/2
- Kennel Cough
We do have our in house Vet on hand to advise on this should you have any queries. She can be contacted on anytime via the following email vet@fourpawsinn.co.uk. Should you need any veterinary services we can also assist with this.
If I order treats how do I get them?
Any products you order will be delivered home with your dog or dropped off when we are passing your home - which ever is first.
How do I see what they’ve been up to in the day?
We take pictures and videos every day and post on our social media pages. Not every dog will be captured in every video every day due to the nature of the service - many like to explore and play with their friends. More often than not you’ll see them somewhere in the pictures and videos having fun with their friends. Unfortunately we aren’t able to capture pictures of every dog every day they join us but we try our best. A sure sign of a fun day is often tired pooches at night. We get sent some hilarious pictures and videos of dogs passed out sleeping at home in the evenings with their legs running in their sleep dreaming of the fun they’ve had in the day.
How does the meet & greet work?
It is quite simple, you send us a message showing interest and we contact you to discuss your dog and it’s temperament. From here we assess and arrange a meet and greet. Meet & Greets are generally made on your premises or where your dog is most comfortable. This can be at your home or garden ideally. This is a great opportunity to ask us any questions and to get a real feel for us and our services.
What age do you take pups from?
Pups can join us as soon as they are fully vaccinated. We encourage socialisation as early as possible so they can start their most important development period with confidence. All new pups are mixed with similar puppies and no big or older boisterous dogs that could knock their confidence.
How do you separate groups?
Dogs are assessed following our initial discussions, Meet & Greet and their trial day. From here we note their temperament and potential friend groups. Their initial visit is a gradual process where they are introduced to 1 or 2 dogs we know to be extra welcoming so as not to be a too overwhelming process. Once we are confident more dogs are introduced to the group and more friends are made in turn. This is the best way to establish groups and selection into what gives all guests the best possible experience.
What if my dog has lunch?
This isn’t a problem. Many dogs come with lunch boxes and they get pulled out of their groups to have their lunch before returning to the fun.
What if my dog is on medication?
We are well versed in regards to medication and have no problem administrating as suits. Having our on site vet always available for advice and guidance also allows us to ensure everything is always as it should be.
